San Marino Executive Aviation (SMEA) has become the first cargo airline to achieve the Republic of San Marino AOC certification.
SMEA extended its management services to cargo operations and started flying an Airbus A300-600R freighter towards the end of 2019.
The company recently carried out 27 charter flights from China to Italy for medical supplies.
Waked Jayyousi, accountable manager for SMEA Airlines, said: “We are living in times where we have realized how fundamental air cargo is for our daily lives. We have demonstrated to the San Marino CAA that our special cargo operations meet international standards during such a vulnerable and critical period.”.
David Colindres, the President of the San Marino Aircraft Registry commented: “SMEA deserves to be acclaimed not only for becoming first air cargo airline on the San Marino Registry but also for their efforts and support with medical supplies during the Covid 19 pandemic.
“The air cargo industry is entering a period where it must ensure that sensitive cargo is transported and delivered to the highest standards, meticulously and punctiliously.”
The company has already completed eight flights from China to Pisa and Bologna. SMEA will also fly to other European Union destinations and continue its medical missions till the end of June 2020.
