Mexico-based cargo carrier mas has taken delivery of an Airbus A330-200P2F, and outlined plans for a major fleet expansion.
Chief executive Luis Sierra also presented the new rebranding that simplifies its commercial name from Mas Air Cargo Airlines to mas.
Sierra explained that the company’s strategic plan is to strengthen its capacity with 18 aircraft by 2024, including eight Airbus units, and will go from eight to 18 scheduled routes in three continents: America, Europe and Asia.
In addition, this year it will consolidate the ACMI type of service with four new contracts, with regular operation to three cities in China.
In April 2022 mas will celebrate 30 years of uninterrupted flying, with an accident-free history.
In the last three years, it increased from 90 to 320 employees, and from 400 to 1,600 indirect jobs, an average growth rate of 64%. mas tripled its interconnection routes with the US, Canada, Colombia, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Peru, Germany and now China, in addition to being certified by the AFAC, DGAC, FAA, EASA, as well as the aeronautical authorities of Peru, Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador and Canada.
“Air safety is a priority for the company, therefore we comply with the highest international standards, such as the IOSA Certificate, EASA-TCO; the CCAR-129, the CEIV Pharma of IATA”, among others, said Sierra.
“In addition, we have a dedicated training center associated with the Canadian company CAE, to train pilots and owning the B767 full flight simulator.”
Added Sierra: “For mas, talent and diversity is the key to the success and consolidation, joining the IATA’s gender inclusion and equity initiative with the goal of having 25% women working at all levels of the company by 2025.”
During the aircraft presentation, Arturo Barreira, Airbus President for Latin America, said: “We are proud that mas has selected the A330-200 P2F, a new generation freighter that will provide an efficient and flexible operation, based on the advanced and proven technology of the A330 platform.
“In addition, Airbus is confident that the A330-200 P2F will best support mas in its expansion into international markets.”
