A330

German carrier Lufthansa has confirmed that it is to take the cabin seats out of four of its Airbus A330 passenger planes, for future use as cargo-carrying aircraft during the Covid-19 global pandemic.

Further details will be available during the next days, said a spokesperson.

In late March, a Lufthansa A330 passenger aircraft loaded with around 30 tons of freight, flew from Shanghai to Frankfurt.

In addition to the cargo compartments of the Airbus A330, the cabin including the stowage compartments above the seats was also loaded.

On board the aircraft were various highly urgent goods, mainly from the medical sector, including masks and other protective equipment.
