Lufthansa is currently operating two daily flights carrying personal protective equipment (PPE) from China to Munich Airport with Airbus A350 passenger aircraft.
The special daily cargo-only flights from Beijing and Shanghai are loaded mainly with masks needed in the Bavarian capital.
Munich Airport’s ground handling subsidiary AeroGround unloads the cargo which is then transported to the final destination by freight forwarders contracted by the federal government.
Lufthansa is operating the cargo flights to Munich with four Airbus A350 passenger aircraft and is flying similar missions with six Airbus A330s based in Frankfurt. The daily cargo-only passenger aircraft flights are expected to continue at least until mid-May.
