Twice a week B767 freighter aimed at pharma, auto parts and electronic products
LATAM Cargo Group has expanded its Europe-North America capacity with a twice a week direct B767 freighter between Frankfurt and Miami.
The new route is expected to transport pharmaceuticals, auto parts and electronic products.
LATAM Cargo, with a fleet of 11 B767Fs, offers freighter connections from Miami to new South American destinations, including Lima (Peru), Bogotá (Colombia) and Buenos Aires (Argentina).
The Miami-Frankfurt flight also offers greater capacity for perishable goods such as flowers.
LATAM Cargo now has nine weekly frequencies offered between Europe and the US, almost doubling capacity compared with prior to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The other seven frequencies to Europe include the Quito-Miami- Amsterdam route.
During the last two months LATAM Cargo Group has made a series of modifications to in order to compensate for the reduction in bellyhold capacity.
One measure saw a fivefold increase in cargo capacity between Santiago and Miami, going from 6 to 31 weekly frequencies in order to serve salmon exporters—one of Chile’s main industries.
The company also launched the Santiago-Los Angeles route for cargo, the US west coast city being a strategic location for salmon, serving as a connection center to reach Asia.
A Mexico City-Lima- Santiago route was included, benefitting the transportation of technology products, spare parts and health-oriented items to South America.
In addition, connectivity from Miami to South America was increased by 15%, going from 23 to 26 frequencies.
LATAM also began to use passenger aircraft exclusively for cargo transportation on a regular basis. This occurs both in international and domestic routes using different aircraft, including B777, B787, B767, A320 and A321.
In some cases, seat containers have been used in order to optimize cargo transportation capacity in passenger aircraft. Through this strategy, LATAM Cargo complements the capacity offered by its exclusive cargo fleet, consisting of 11 B767Fs.
