Combined Canadian air export volumes of 17,000 tons

Kuehne + Nagel (K+N) has added to its perishables cargo capability after completing the acquisition of Worldwide Perishable Canada (WWP), based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The combined volume of both companies will account for more than 17,000 tons of air export of perishables per annum out of Canada, said the Swiss logistics giant.

With a strong footprint on the East Coast, WWP is one of the largest freight forwarders in Canada and a leading player for perishables cargo, being the market leader in tuna export.

“Perishables logistics is one of our strongest growth drivers at Kuehne + Nagel,” said Greg Martin, Regional Airfreight Manager K+N North America.

“Thus, we have been continuously investing in the expansion of our dedicated network: through selected acquisitions and by connecting key production countries to major markets.”

In October last year, K+N completed the acquisition of the perishables business of Panatlantic Logistics in Ecuador. In 2017 it acquired Kenya-based perishables specialist Trillvane and Commodity Forwarders in the US.

WWP was founded in 1999 and was originally dedicated to serve a local demand in the Canadian export market it has grown into one of the country’s major perishables forwarders.
