Japan Airlines (JAL) has implemented CHAMP’s API Gateway solution to power a new domestic air cargo service that enables the carrier to compete with other modes of transport, integrating air and land options.

The airline is also able to offer capacity to its business partners by allowing them to match shipment requests from shippers with available JAL flights.

The solution enables JAL to use a suite of APIs that connect its new domestic service to Cargospot, the airline’s cargo management system,  developed and operated by CHAMP.

The API integration allows for instant end-to-end quotation for customers by matching and combining various air-to-air and land transportation options.

The APIs also allow partners to offer multiple services including checking for flight availability and managing bookings, thereby significantly raising JAL’s third-party distribution capability.

The API Gateway solution was implemented remotely by CHAMP in just under eight weeks – from concept to go live on 1st December 2020.
