ANA Cargo’s first dedicated Boeing 777 freighter flight from Tokyo to Frankfurt was welcomed by a celebratory water cannon salute upon its arrival at the German airport.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the ceremony was carried out in a small circle and in line with appropriate precautions.
ANA Cargo is in a joint venture with Lufthansa Cargo for Japan-Europe freight services and the aircraft was welcomed by Lufthansa Cargo boss Peter Gerber.
Well known for its widebody service, ANA Cargo has added maindeck capacities from Japan to Europe to enhance its offer and meet customer requirements.
ANA Cargo’s June Frankfurt-Tokyo freighter service is scheduled for a weekly departure on day 3.
The incoming aircraft was loaded with about 68 tons of general cargo.
The return flight to Japan will be with a cargo load of around 88 tons and full volume capacity.
