Emirates SkyCargo worked with International Humanitarian City (IHC), the Dubai-based hub for humanitarian aid, to transport Covid-19 relief materials to Burkina Faso in West Africa.
The Emirates SkyCargo B777F flight from Dubai to Ouagadougou carried around 100 tons of aid, including 88 tons of core relief items from UNHCR, and 12 tons of essential kits of medicines and medical supplies from the WHO.
Nabil Sultan, Emirates Divisional Senior Vice President, Cargo, said: “We consider it our social responsibility to support the delivery of vital relief materials to places where they are needed urgently and the strategic location of our hub in Dubai along with our widebody aircraft fleet enables us to reach a wide range of destinations within the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe within eight hours, allowing for rapid and efficient transportation of aid materials.”
Giuseppe Saba, CEO of the International Humanitarian City, said that the flight to Burkina Faso would benefit of close to 600,000 internally displaced people, “a number which risks going up to one million.”
