Alha has secured a ground handling contract at Milan Malpensa Airport to handle freighter operations for AirBridgeCargo Airlines.
The contract also extends to all operations of ATRAN Airlines, the express cargo carrier within Volga-Dnepr Group, as well as its strategic partners: CargoLogicAir and CargoLogic Germany.
Said an Alha spokesperson: “The award of a major contract such as the one signed with ABC fits perfectly into our growth and development plans for the ramp division. Three years have passed since we started providing ramp handling services for Cathay Pacific and during these three years our organization has consolidated and developed.
“last year we acquired the contract with Asiana Airlines and we are now fully ready to significantly scale the size of our ramp division with a strong increase in the number of flights managed.”
Alha investments in equipment since the start of activities in 2017 include three CoolBoxes (refrigerated dollies for pharmaceutical products).
The model proposed to AirBridgeCargo features integrated management of warehouse and ramp operations, with total control of shipments from truck to aircraft – and vice versa.
Said Andrea D. Piai Walpot – Sales Manager Alha Group: “We have been providing freight warehouse services to AirBridgeCargo for 11 years and since the first day of collaboration I have considered ABC a special customer.
“In 2009 ABC chose to entrust us with cargo handling services, just when our Malpensa cargo terminal was facing a period of crisis due to a significant reduction in volumes.
“The signing of the contract with ABC marked the beginning of our recovery and in the following years the steady growth of AirBridgeCargo’s operations in Malpensa strongly supported our expansion. Since then, ABC has been a very important customer for us, with whom we have always had excellent collaboration and mutual support. We take this new experience with a giant in the Air Cargo sector with pride and enthusiasm”
Diana Schoeneich, Senior Director for Europe region of AirBridgeCargo Airlines, commented: “We are delighted to continue working with our long-standing partner, Alha Group. Their commitment to high-quality standards, readiness to handle the whole spectrum of special cargoes and collaborative approach form the right basis for successful operations of AirBridgeCargo Airlines in Malpensa, as well as other carriers within Volga-Dnepr Group.
“In air cargo world it is very important to work with like-minded partners to guarantee integrity of supply chains, especially during these turbulent times. Alha Group is precisely that partner who shares our DNA, values and supports forward-thinking approach. With Alha we are ready to spin the freight across the globe – from dedicated healthcare shipments and first-class cars to XL equipment and e-commerce parcels”.
