Geert Aerts will succeed Steven Polmans as Director Cargo & Logistics at Brussels Airport, taking up the role on 8 March.
With a background as industrial engineer, Aerts has been active in aviation for 17 years at CAE Inc, where he has been Regional Operations Director Europe, Africa & Middle-East since 2014.
At CAE Inc he was responsible for the management of a network of 16 flight simulator training centres and flight schools in this region, including at Brussels Airport.
Said an airport spokesperson: “With his experience in working for a global company within a complex environment with many stakeholders and with his focus on the client, on cooperation and innovation, he is the right candidate to take over the helm of the cargo department at Brussels Airport.”
Said Aerts: “I am looking forward to joining the team at Brussels Airport and further develop the cargo activities together with the Brucargo community, clients and partners.
“I have always followed Brucargo with interest and I am eager and ambitious to continue this work and further grow the cargo community at Brussels Airport.”
Polmans said goodbye to Brucargo at the end of December after ten years at the hub.
Aerts will join the cargo team on 8 March. Together with them, and in close cooperation with the community and Air Cargo Belgium, the ambition and commitment of Brussels Airport to further grow Cargo and Logistics will be continued.

Every year, about 650 000 tonnes of cargo is shipped through Brussels Airport. Brucargo plays a crucial role in the current pandemic, as the main pharma hub for the vaccine transport in Europe.
