UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has outlined his ten point plan for a Green Industrial Revolution, including support for aerospace through the Jet Zero initiative to deliver carbon-free flight.

ADS Chief Executive Paul Everitt said: “The Government, through its Jet Zero ambition, recognises the importance of working with the aerospace sector to support the development of radical new green aircraft technology.”

Everitt, whose UK trade organisation represents the aerospace, defence, security and space sectors, added: “The UK has the potential to become a global leader in developing and manufacturing the technology needed to achieve net zero aviation.

“Realising this ambition will bring huge environmental benefit, generate exports worth billions of pounds a year and sustain thousands of high value jobs in all parts of the country.

“Boosting support for green technological development can accelerate industry’s progress towards net zero. We are calling on Government to work quickly to double funding for the successful Aerospace Technology Institute and put support in place to make the UK a leader in sustainable aviation fuels.”
