Here is the latest “Friday flyer” update from Vladimir Zubkov
TIACA Secretary General.

Last week representatives of FIATA, IATA, GEA, TIACA and ICAO had a virtual meeting with two international organizations which are active in the area of multimode transport, UNECE and UNESCAP for the discussion on COVID-19 Landside Transport Challenges to Air Cargo.

Why these two new names? Because the aviation and infrastructure around it, need immediate help from well-placed UN agencies in maintaining road transport due to its critical importance to the global supply chain.

UNECE – UN Economic Commission for Europe is focused on all inland transport issues across road, rail, and river and is working with contracting parties to ensure their conformity with regulations. Why is this important? – Air cargo has been moving within their network. Their regulation and state of road traffic affect our cargo. Our counterparts are experts from the Sustainable Transport Division.

ESCAP – The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific serves as the United Nations’ regional hub promoting cooperation among countries to achieve inclusive and sustainable development. The largest regional intergovernmental platform with 53 Member States and 9 Associate Members. They understand very well the importance of air cargo for the economic wellbeing of their members states and are prepared to get involved in the facilitation of its movement in their region.

Our collaboration is only starting but with great will on all sides. The objective is common – facilitation of landside transport of air cargo.
