Cargolux has introduced a third weekly frequency to Xiamen, with the return leg via Los Angeles providing the first direct freighter link between the Chinese gateway and the US.
The new service to Xiamen, CV972, is operated every Monday morning with the return flight, CV9731, routed through Los Angeles before returning to Luxembourg.
Cargolux has been operating into Xiamen since 2006 with two weekly flights. A spokesperson for the European B747F operator said that the additional China–US service provides the only direct freighter connection between Xiamen and the US.
The main imports from Europe into Xiamen are classic cargo as well as spare parts and semiconductor parts. The new frequency from Xiamen to Los Angeles will mainly support the export of clothing and electronic goods.
