Japan’s ANA Holdings has ordered two Boeing 777-8Fs as it looks to replace its domestic fleet’s smaller aircraft.

On March 27, the carrier signed up for 20 B777-9 passenger aircraft but will now take 18 B777-9s and two of the next generation production line freighters.

The announcement reflects ANA’s plan to further expand its cargo business through securing large freighters and to replace the domestic fleet’s smaller planes with more fuel-efficient aircraft that will serve as the foundation for future growth.

The freighters will be introduced into service on or after fiscal 2028.
